Great show. Austin is a magnificent storyteller, but I thought the " religon is a disease " rant was a bit over the top. Eerily reminicent of say Hitler, going on about the jewish religon being a gutter religon before he created the atmospheric conditions for genocide. Not that Austin is trying to do that of course, but demonizing people's religous worlviews definetly shapes peoples perceptions of the people who practice these religons, as somehow less than human. And I've always considered this show to be a model for tolerance of "the other" ( different worldviews and such ), going back to the outthere shows, and I thought it wasn't consistent with that model. Please don't allow the disease of intolerance and prejudice to be a sub category of this othwise awesome show. Thank you for reading this guy's.
Your point is heard, Thomas. I understand that you feel like I'm demonizing people, and nothing is further from my intention. My basic point is that the instant a human mind begins to crystallize around any given idea, religious or otherwise, then that mind begins to lose its flexibility and power. Religion is only one of many virulent strains of ideas, all too often targeted towards children, and has historically led to a great deal of hate and xenophobia. The people who do not display these traits are generally those who retain their intellectual flexibility. I am firmly convinced that good people would be good people with or without religion, but in the hands of the wicked it becomes an incredibly dangerous tool for the enslavement of others. People are killed every day in the name of a Gaseous Vertebrate who lives in the sky. There should be a warning label on that shit.
That said, I appreciate the feedback and hope that you understand that my opinions are often confrontational, and conveyed in a manner which is sometimes (but not always) intentionally offensive. It's my way of throwing bricks at the castles in the sky. My war is on the plane of the ideas, not against the people who hold them. It is not my goal to hurt people's feelings, but I'm not going to avoid stepping on toes.
I don't think that makes me anything like Hitler, the comparison is over the top and in violation of Godwin's Law.

Austin, I agree with you fully. I even enjoyed your analogy. Your call to your listeners to think outside of their dogmatic, iron-maiden programing and remain spiritually and mentally limber was a ray of golden holy light upon the media. Don't apologize to your critics and don't tone down your performance for the sake of deferring criticism. Oftentimes, one needs to hear that their nonsense, is nonsense to be able shatter the crystallized cages of echos in their head. Keep up the good work and know stronger minds are supporting you.
